How to Draw Walking the Dog

Draw walking the dog in 14 steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Step 1: The head
Near the top, left of the middle, draw an egg for the head. Leave room below for the body.
Tip The dog walks on the right, so leave room there.
Step 2: The face
Add 2 oval eyes, a U nose and a smile. Each C ear starts and stops on the head.
Step 3: Baseball cap
Draw a cap over the top of the head, with a long flat bill sticking out to the right.
Step 4: Neck and T-shirt
Draw 2 neck lines. From them, draw a T-shirt with short sleeves, back to the neck. Add 2 stripe lines.
Step 5: Arms
From each sleeve, draw 2 lines getting thinner: the left arm hangs down, the right arm reaches out.
Tip The right arm reaches toward the dog: that fist will grip the leash.
Step 6: Hands
From each wrist, draw a round hand that ends on the other arm line. The right hand is a fist.
Step 7: Dog's body and legs
On the right, draw a bean body with a short neck at the front. Add 4 short legs with paws.
Tip Make the dog about as long as the kid is wide.
Step 8: Head, tail and collar
Draw a round head on the neck, a floppy ear, a curly tail and a collar round the neck.
Step 9: Dog's face and leash
Give the dog an eye, nose and smile. From the fist, draw a sagging leash down to the collar.
Tip The leash starts behind the closed fist, so the fist grips it.
Step 10: Shorts and legs
From the left of the hem, draw shorts back to the right. Add 2 legs, thinner at the ankles.
Step 11: Sneakers and ground
Under each leg, draw a chunky sneaker with the toe pointing out. Draw a long ground line under everything.
Step 12: Peach skin, pink cheeks
Colour the face, neck, ears, arms, hands and legs peach, with pink cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 13: Green top, blue shorts
Colour the cap and the T-shirt green, leaving the stripe white, and the shorts blue.
Step 14: Brown dog, red collar
Colour the dog brown, leaving its eye white, and the collar red. Go over your lines and you're done!
