How to Draw a Walk the Plank
Draw a walk the plank in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: round head.
Step 1: Round head
Near the top, a little right of the middle, draw a big round head.
Tip Leave room above it for the hat.
Step 2: Happy face
Below the middle of the head draw 2 oval eyes with black dots and shines. Add an open smile.
Step 3: Pirate hat
On the head draw a wide hat like a slice of melon, tips up. Draw a band line across it.
Step 4: Shirt and arms
Under the chin draw a shirt with 2 long sleeves: the left arm swings up, the right arm dips.
Tip Arms out like a see-saw: he is wobbling.
Step 5: Hands
On the end of each sleeve draw a mitten hand with a thumb on top.
Step 6: Stripes
Rule 3 lines across the shirt below the arms, from one side and stopping at the other.
Step 7: Trousers and boots
Under the shirt draw 2 baggy trouser legs. Under each draw a boot with its toe pointing out.
Tip Keep both soles flat and level.
Step 8: Wavy sea
Start at the left edge, well below the boots. Draw a long wavy line and stop at the right edge.
Step 9: Pirate ship
From the waves draw a ship side with a curved top, back down to the waves. Add 3 board lines.
Tip The ship stands at the left edge of the page.
Step 10: The plank
Rule a long thin plank from the ship, under both boots, stopping just past the right boot.
Step 11: Shark fin
Right of the plank draw a curved fin. Start on a wave, go up to a tip and back down.
Step 12: Sea and fin
Colour the sea light blue, right to the edges of the page. Colour the fin grey.
Step 13: Skin and red
Colour the face, neck and hands peach. Colour the sleeves, middle stripe, hat band and mouth red.
Tip Leave the eyes and 2 shirt stripes white.
Step 14: Blue and brown
Colour the hat and trousers dark blue. Colour the boots, plank and ship brown. Go over your lines.
