How to Draw a Violet
Draw a violet in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the bottom petal.
Step 1: The bottom petal
Near the top, start at a point and draw a fat round petal hanging down, back up to the point.
Tip The point is the middle of the flower. All the petals meet there.
Step 2: 2 side petals
From the same point draw a round petal out to the left and another out to the right.
Step 3: 2 top petals
From the same point draw 2 round petals up, one leaning left, then one leaning right tucked behind it.
Step 4: The middle
Where the petals meet draw a small round middle. Add 2 tiny whisker lines down from it.
Step 5: The stem
Start under the bottom petal. Draw a stem of 2 lines close together down to near the bottom.
Step 6: 2 leaves
Start on the stem below the flower. Draw a heart leaf out left, back to the stem. Do one right.
Tip Violet leaves are round like little hearts, with a small dip where they meet the stem.
Step 7: Leaf veins
Start on the stem at each leaf's dip. Draw one vein out towards the tip, stopping short.
Step 8: Ground and grass
Start near the left edge. Draw a soft ground line through the stem, stop near the right edge. Add grass.
Step 9: Yellow middle, green leaves
Go over your lines, then colour the middle yellow, and the stem and both leaves green.
Step 10: Purple petals
Colour all 5 petals purple around the yellow middle, and your violet is done.
