How to Draw a Vine Border
Draw a vine border in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the outside line.
Step 1: The outside line
Draw a big square with round corners, nearly as big as your paper. Make the line gently wavy.
Tip 3 soft waves along each side. Go slowly.
Step 2: The inside line
Just inside it, draw a second wavy line that follows the first all the way round.
Tip Keep the gap as wide as your pencil. This is the vine.
Step 3: Top corner flowers
Over each top corner draw a small circle with 5 round petals around it.
Tip The flower hides the vine, so rub out the vine lines inside it.
Step 4: Bottom corner flowers
Draw the same flower over each bottom corner: a small circle, then 5 round petals.
Step 5: Leaves top and bottom
On the outside of the top and bottom, draw a pointed leaf on each wave that bumps out.
Tip Each leaf starts on the vine and ends in a point.
Step 6: Leaves down the sides
Do the same down the left and right sides: 3 pointed leaves on each side.
Step 7: Leaves inside
Now draw leaves pointing in, 2 on every side, where the vine dips inwards.
Step 8: Yellow and pink
Colour the flower middles yellow and the petals pink.
Step 9: Green leaves
Colour all the leaves green.
Step 10: Brown vine
Colour the vine brown between its 2 lines, all the way round. Your border is ready to use!
