How to Draw a Bridle
Draw a bridle in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: long face.
Step 1: Long face
In the middle, draw a long face like a tall egg, pointy end down, widest at the eyes.
Tip Leave room above for tall ears and below for the reins.
Step 2: Big nose and smile
Across the bottom of the face, draw a big sideways oval nose. Add 2 black nostrils and a smile.
Step 3: Tall leaf ears
On each top corner, draw a tall leaf ear leaning out, with a thinner leaf inside.
Step 4: The forelock
Between the ears, draw a little hill of hair with 3 short floppy points on the forehead.
Step 5: Two big eyes
In the middle of the face, draw 2 big egg eyes with black dots and shines.
Step 6: Side straps
Start under each ear. Draw a thin strap down along the edge of the face. Stop beside the nose.
Tip A bridle is made of leather straps that hold the bit in the horse's mouth.
Step 7: The browband
Above the eyes, draw a strap straight across the forehead, from one side strap to the other.
Step 8: The noseband
Just above the nose, draw another strap across the face, from side strap to side strap.
Step 9: Two bit rings
At the bottom of each side strap, draw a round ring with a small circle inside.
Tip The rings sit at the corners of the mouth.
Step 10: The reins
Start under the left ring. Draw a long strap hanging down in a U and up to the right ring.
Tip The rider holds the reins to steer.
Step 11: Cream and pink
Colour the nose and the forelock cream, and the inside of each ear pink.
Step 12: Sandy face
Colour the face and ears a sandy yellow, around the straps. Leave the eyes white.
Step 13: Brown leather bridle
Colour the 2 rings grey. Colour every strap brown, and your bridle is done!
