How to Draw a Crushed Can
Draw a crushed can in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: tilted top.
Step 1: Tilted top
Near the top of your paper draw a flat oval for the top. Tilt it so the right end dips.
Tip A tilted top shows the can is bent.
Step 2: Crushed left side
Start at the oval's left end. Draw down, zigzag in and out twice, then straight down.
Tip The zigzags show where the can got squashed.
Step 3: Crushed right side
Start at the oval's right end. Draw down, zigzag in and out twice, then straight down.
Step 4: Round bottom
Start at the end of the left side. Draw a curve like a smile and stop at the right side.
Step 5: The lid
Inside the top oval draw a smaller flat oval for the lid, a little in from the edge.
Step 6: The tab
In the middle of the lid draw a little pill tab with a tiny circle in its right end.
Step 7: Dent lines
Start at each inside corner of the zigzags. Draw a short line into the can, 4 in all.
Tip Keep the lines short. They stop before the middle.
Step 8: Two bands
Draw a curved line from side to side below the top, and another above the bottom.
Step 9: Table and shadow
Draw a table line out past both sides of the can, and a flat oval shadow around the can's bottom.
Step 10: Grey lid and shadow
Colour the top, the lid and the tab grey. Colour the shadow grey too.
Step 11: Red can
Colour the whole can red, from the top oval down to the round bottom. Your crushed can is done!
