How to Draw a Tassel

11 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a tassel in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the skirt.

Print

  1. Step 1: The skirt

Draw a short flat top, then flare a side down each way. Join them with 6 little bumps.

Tip Leave room above for a ball and a loop.

  2. Step 2: The band

On the flat top draw a small box, as wide as the top.

Tip The band is the thread tied round the neck of the tassel.

  3. Step 3: The round ball

On the band draw a round ball, wider than the band.

  4. Step 4: The cord loop

From the top of the ball draw a tall thin loop of cord, up and back down.

  5. Step 5: The peg

Inside the top of the loop draw a small circle. That is the peg it hangs on.

Tip A tassel hangs, so it needs something to hang from.

  6. Step 6: Three threads

From the band draw 3 threads down to the bumps: one in the middle, one each side.

  7. Step 7: Two more threads

Draw 2 more threads from the band to the last bumps, fanning out like the sides.

Tip Every thread ends where 2 bumps meet.

  8. Step 8: Band wraps

Draw 2 lines across the band, from side to side, for the wrapped thread.

  9. Step 9: Gold tassel

Go over your lines. Colour the ball and the skirt yellow like gold.

  10. Step 10: Red cord

Colour the band and the cord loop red.

  11. Step 11: Brown peg

Colour the little peg brown. Your tassel is done!
