How to Draw a Vest
Draw a vest in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the v neck.
Step 1: The V neck
Draw a small rainbow near the top. From its ends slant 2 lines down to meet in a V neck.
Tip The rainbow is the back of the collar, 3 fingers wide.
Step 2: Shoulders and armholes
From each end of the rainbow draw a short shoulder out, then scoop down and in to the armpit.
Tip A vest has no sleeves, just armholes.
Step 3: The body
From each armpit draw a side down, leaning out a little. Join the bottoms with a gently drooping hem.
Step 4: Two big eyes
On the chest draw 2 big eyes, half an eye apart. Colour a black dot in each, with a shine.
Step 5: Smile and cheeks
Draw a big U smile from eye to eye, with a little tongue. Add a flat cheek beside each end.
Step 6: Neck band
Under the V neck draw a second V a finger lower, starting and ending on the shoulders.
Step 7: Armhole and hem bands
Inside each armhole draw a curve from the shoulder down to the side. Add a line just above the hem.
Step 8: The hanger
Under the rainbow draw a low tent joining its ends. From the point draw a hook up and curling left.
Step 9: The rail
Start near the left edge, level with the hook's tip. Draw a straight rail across to the right edge.
Step 10: Pink bits, teal vest
Colour the cheeks and tongue pink. Colour the vest teal around the face, inside the bands. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Navy bands
Colour the neck band, armhole bands and hem band navy blue. Go over your lines and your vest is done!
