How to Draw an Usa Map

Step 1: The top edge

Start near the top left. Draw a long line across to the right, sagging a little. Stop past the middle.

Tip This long line is the border with Canada.

Step 2: The Great Lakes

Carry on from there. Draw a bumpy line that dips down, then climbs back up. Stop near the right side.

Tip The dips are where the 5 Great Lakes sit.

Step 3: Top right corner

Carry on from there. Go right, then up and over a tall bump. Stop at the far right.

Step 4: The east coast

Carry on from there. Draw a wavy coast slanting down and left, then straight down. Stop at a point.

Step 5: Florida and the Gulf

Start at that point. Go up, then left along a wavy coast, then down. Stop at another point.

Tip The finger of land is Florida.

Step 6: The bottom edge

Start at that point. Draw a bumpy line climbing up to the left. Stop near the left side.

Tip This line is the border with Mexico.

Step 7: The west coast

Start where you stopped. Draw a curved coast up the left side. Stop where your first line began.

Step 8: Alaska

In the bottom left corner draw Alaska: a lumpy shape with 2 tails hanging down.

Tip Alaska is really far away in the north. Maps tuck it in the corner.

Step 9: Hawaii

Next to Alaska draw 4 small islands in a slanting row. Make the last one the biggest.

Step 10: The mountains

On the left side of the map draw 4 triangle mountains in a slanting row.

Step 11: The big river

Start near the top, right of the middle. Draw a wiggly river down. Stop at the bottom coast.

Step 12: The capital star

Near the east coast, about halfway down, draw a small star for the capital city.

Step 13: Green land

Go over your lines. Colour all the land green, around the mountains and the star.

Step 14: Brown and red

Colour the 4 mountains brown and the star red. Your map of the USA is done!
