How to Draw a New Year Countdown
Draw a new year countdown in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the clock.
Step 1: The clock
In the middle of your paper, draw a big round circle for the clock, as big as your fist.
Tip Leave room above it for a party hat.
Step 2: Two big eyes
Below the middle of the clock, draw 2 big round eyes, wide apart, with a black dot in each.
Tip Leave the middle of the clock empty for the hands.
Step 3: A smile
Below the eyes, draw a U smile. Start under the left eye, swoop down, and stop under the right eye.
Step 4: Rim and ticks
Draw a second circle inside the first for the rim. Add 4 short ticks: top, right, bottom and left.
Step 5: Clock hands
From the middle, draw a short fat hand pointing straight up and a long thin hand leaning a little left.
Tip The hands are almost together: it is nearly midnight!
Step 6: The party hat
On top of the clock, draw a tall triangle hat. Add a pompom on top and 2 lines across.
Step 7: Firework on the left
In the top left, draw a firework burst: a small dot with short lines shooting out all round it.
Step 8: Firework on the right
Draw another firework burst on the right side.
Step 9: Confetti
Scatter little circles and squares around the clock for confetti, none touching it.
Step 10: The floor
Draw a floor line across under the clock, from edge to edge, touching the bottom of the clock.
Step 11: Blue rim, cream face
Colour the rim blue and the clock face cream, around the hands. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Red hat, yellow stripe
Colour the stripe, the pompom and the 2 firework dots yellow. Then colour the hat red around the stripe.
Step 13: Navy hands, pink confetti
Colour the clock hands dark blue and the confetti pink. Go over your lines. Happy New Year!
