How to Draw a Magic Hat

Step 1: The rabbit's head

Near the top draw the rabbit's head like a soft bun, with round cheeks puffing out low down.

Tip The head sits in the top third of the page: the hat goes underneath.

Step 2: Two tall spoon ears

On top of the head draw 2 tall spoon ears standing straight up, with a thinner spoon inside each.

Step 3: Eyes, snout and nose

Draw 2 big round eyes with black dots. Under them draw a heart snout, a triangle nose in its dip.

Step 4: Smile and buck teeth

From the nose draw a little smile curving up each side. Under the middle hang 2 big buck teeth.

Step 5: The hat brim

Start left of the chin. Draw a wide flat oval round the rabbit, back to the start. Add one inside.

Tip The brim goes behind the rabbit at the back, in front at the chin.

Step 6: The crown

From each end of the hole draw a long line down, bowing out. Join them with a flat line.

Tip The crown stops near the bottom of the page. The flat bottom lets the hat sit on the table.

Step 7: Thick brim and band

Under the big oval draw a matching curve a finger lower, from left end across to right. Add a band.

Step 8: Paws on the brim

On the front edge of the hole draw 2 little mitten paws peeking over, one under each eye.

Step 9: Twinkles and a table

Draw a twinkle by the ears and a small one each side. Add a table line touching the hat.

Step 10: White rabbit, cream snout

Colour the rabbit white and the snout cream, around the nose, inner ears and cheeks, leaving eyes and teeth white.

Step 11: Red band, pink ears

Colour the ribbon band red, and the inner ears, nose and cheeks pink.

Step 12: Yellow twinkles, black hat

Colour the twinkles yellow, then the hat black around the band and rabbit, pressing softly. Your magic hat is done!
