How to Draw a Unicorn Mermaid

Draw a unicorn mermaid in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Step 1: The head
Near the top draw a big egg head, wider than tall. Leave room above it for the horn.
Tip A big head makes it cute.
Step 2: Two big eyes
Just below the middle draw 2 big round eyes, a small gap apart. Colour a big black dot in each.
Step 3: Nose and smile
Under the eyes draw a wide oval poking past the chin. Add 2 nostrils and a U smile inside.
Step 4: Horn, ears and tuft
Draw a tall horn with 2 lines across, a leaf ear each side and a hair tuft beside the horn.
Step 5: Round body
Start under the left cheek. Draw a round body down, across and up. Stop under the right cheek.
Step 6: Front legs
From under each cheek draw a fat leg hanging down the body. Draw a line across each for a hoof.
Step 7: Fish tail
Start at the left hip. Draw the tail down to a wide fin. Stop at the right hip. Add a fin line.
Tip The tail gets thin just above the fin.
Step 8: Bumpy mane
Start on top of the head by the horn. Draw big bumps down the right side. Stop at the shoulder.
Step 9: Scales
Start on the left edge of the tail. Draw 3 rows of little hill bumps across. Stop on the right edge.
Tip Scales are soft bumps, not sharp zigzags.
Step 10: Bubbles and sea floor
Draw 3 little bubbles beside the body. Draw the sea floor: start left of the fin, stop right of it.
Step 11: White coat, peach nose
Go over your lines. Colour the head, ears, body and legs white and the nose oval peach. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Yellow horn, pink mane
Colour the horn and the 2 hooves yellow. Colour the hair tuft and the mane pink.
Step 13: Teal tail, purple fin
Colour the scaly tail teal, down to the fin line. Colour the fin purple.
