How to Draw a Raccoon in a Trash Can

Draw a raccoon in a trash can in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big soft head.

Step 1: Big soft head
Near the top, draw a big egg head with round cheeks and a soft chin. Leave room below.
Tip The raccoon pops up high, with the can underneath.
Step 2: Bandit mask
Across the middle of the head, draw the mask: 2 fat blobs joined in the middle, pointy at the sides.
Step 3: Big eyes
Inside each blob of the mask, draw a big egg eye with a black dot and shine.
Step 4: Pointy ears
On each top corner of the head, draw a triangle ear with a soft tip. Add a smaller triangle inside.
Step 5: Nose and smile
Under the mask, draw a wide oval as wide as both eyes. Add a black nose and w smile.
Step 6: Rim of the can
Start left of the chin. Draw a wide flat oval round the neck, back to the start. Add shoulder lines.
Step 7: The can
From each end of the rim, draw a line down. Join them with a smile. Add a band above it.
Step 8: Paws on the rim
On the rim under each eye, draw a plump mitten paw gripping the edge. Add 2 toe lines.
Step 9: Ringed tail
Behind the left shoulder, draw a fat tail over the rim, tapering down the can. Add 2 wide rings.
Step 10: Lid and ground
On the right, draw the lid standing on its edge against the can. Add a handle and a ground line.
Step 11: Cream face, grey fur
Colour the nose patch and ear insides cream. Colour the fur light grey, around them, the mask and rings.
Step 12: Grey can
Colour the can grey, around the raccoon. Colour the lid, handle, band and inside of the can dark grey.
Step 13: Black mask and rings
Colour the mask black, leaving a thin grey stripe between the eyes. Colour 2 black rings on the tail.
Tip Keep the eyes white.
