How to Draw a Unicorn Cake

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a unicorn cake in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the top layer.

Print

  1. Step 1: The top layer

Start above the middle. Draw a flat oval with 5 bumps in front. Add short sides down to a smile.

Tip Draw the top layer first so the big layer can tuck behind it.

  2. Step 2: Top layer drips

From the left and right frosting bumps draw a narrow U drip down with a round blob at the bottom.

Tip Each drip hangs off one bump and comes back up to its other end.

  3. Step 3: Tall horn

In the middle of the top oval draw a tall pointy horn. Add 3 short curved lines across it.

Tip Fat at the bottom, almost as tall as the cake, like a party hat.

  4. Step 4: Two ears

On each side of the horn draw a pointy ear standing on the top oval, leaning out.

Tip Half as tall as the horn. Draw a smaller pointed shape inside each.

  5. Step 5: The big bottom layer

From the top layer's sides draw a bigger oval, 7 bumps in front. Add sides down to a round bottom.

Tip Its back hides behind the top layer, so there is nothing to rub out.

  6. Step 6: Drippy icing

From the 3 middle bumps of the big layer draw long narrow U drips with round blobs: long, short, longer.

  7. Step 7: Happy eyes and smile

Beside the drips draw 2 big eyes with dots and 3 lashes each. Add a smile under the middle drip.

Tip Lashes go on top of each eye. Leave the eyes white with a shine in each dot.

  8. Step 8: A plate

Under the cake draw a big flat oval plate, wider than the cake. The cake sits on its front half.

Tip Rub out the part of the plate hidden behind the cake.

  9. Step 9: Icing swirls

On each side of the bottom layer draw an icing swirl: a circle with a thin swirl curling out.

Tip The swirls are round dollops of frosting sitting on the ledge, like little roses.

  10. Step 10: Pink icing, tan cake

Colour the layer tops, bumps and drips pink. Colour both cake sides tan, around the eyes.

  11. Step 11: Yellow horn and ears

Colour the horn and the outer ears yellow, and the inside of each ear pink.

  12. Step 12: Purple swirls

Colour the 2 icing swirls purple. Leave the eyes and plate white, then go over all your lines.
