How to Draw Onion Rings
Draw onion rings in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the plate.
Step 1: The plate
A little below the middle draw a big wide oval plate, nearly as wide as the page.
Tip The rings sit in the middle of the plate, so make it big.
Step 2: The rim
Inside the plate draw a second oval a finger in from the edge, for the rim.
Step 3: Top ring
In the middle of the plate draw a bumpy oval lying flat. Draw a big oval hole inside it.
Tip Keep the ring thin and the hole big, and make the edge bumpy like crunchy batter.
Step 4: Left ring
Start under the top ring's left side. Draw a bumpy ring with a big hole, stopping at the top ring.
Tip Where it passes under the top ring's hole, you can still see it.
Step 5: Right ring
Start under the top ring's right side. Draw another bumpy ring with a big hole, stopping at the rings above.
Step 6: Leaning ring
From the top ring's back edge draw a bumpy leaning ring with a hole. Stop back at the top ring.
Step 7: Dip bowl
Right of the rings draw a flat oval. From one end draw a U under it to the other end.
Step 8: Ketchup
Inside the bowl's oval draw a smaller flat oval for the ketchup.
Step 9: The table
Draw a table line under the plate, just touching its bottom, from far left to far right.
Step 10: Sky rim
Go over your lines. Colour the rim sky blue between the 2 ovals, and leave the middle white.
Step 11: Ginger rings
Colour all 4 rings ginger between each bumpy edge and its hole. Leave the holes white.
Step 12: Red ketchup
Colour the ketchup red and leave the bowl white, and your onion rings are done!
