How to Draw a Samosa

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a samosa in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: a plate.

Print

  1. Step 1: A plate

Across the lower half of your paper draw a big flat oval plate, not too near the edges.

  2. Step 2: The rim

Draw a second oval a finger inside the plate, all the way round, for the rim.

  3. Step 3: The samosa

On the back of the plate draw a big plump triangle with soft round corners and a wide bottom.

Tip Rub out the plate lines inside the samosa.

  4. Step 4: The fold

Start at the top point and draw a gently curved line down to the bottom edge, right of the middle.

  5. Step 5: Crimped seam

Starting on the left edge, draw 5 short curved lines slanting in, from near the top down to the plate.

  6. Step 6: A chutney bowl

Front left, draw a flat oval. Hang a U under it from end to end. Add a small oval inside.

  7. Step 7: A mint sprig

Front right of the samosa, draw a little stem with 3 pointed leaves lying flat on the plate.

  8. Step 8: Sky plate

Colour the plate sky blue, around the samosa, the bowl and the mint. Leave the bowl white.

  9. Step 9: Golden pastry

Colour both sides of the samosa ginger for golden pastry.

  10. Step 10: Green chutney and mint

Go over your lines, then colour the chutney and the mint green. Your samosa is ready to eat!
