How to Draw an Underwater Scene
Draw an underwater scene in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the sea bed.
Step 1: The sea bed
Low on your paper, draw a long, gently wavy line from the left edge to the right edge.
Step 2: A big rock
On the right, start on the sand. Draw a rock like a hill, stopping on the sand. Add 2 marks.
Step 3: Three seaweed fronds
On the left, draw 3 wavy seaweed leaves. Start on the sand, wiggle up to a point, wiggle back.
Tip Make the middle one the tallest.
Step 4: A big fish
In the middle, draw a fat egg with a pointed nose on the left. Add a tail with 2 lobes.
Step 5: Two fins
Start on the fish's back. Draw a round fin up and over, stopping on the back. Add a side fin.
Step 6: Eye and smile
Near the nose, draw a big round eye with a dark middle and a shine. Add a smile under it.
Step 7: A little fish
Up on the right, draw a little fish the same way: egg, tail, dot eye and smile.
Step 8: Another little fish
Down low, draw one more little fish swimming the other way, between the seaweed and the rock.
Step 9: Bubbles
Draw 3 round bubbles rising from the big fish and 2 from the little fish, bigger as they go up.
Step 10: The surface
Near the top, draw a long wavy line from the left edge to the right edge: the sea's top.
Step 11: Sand and yellow fish
Colour the sea bed sand yellow, below its wavy line. Colour the top little fish yellow.
Step 12: Orange and pink fish
Colour the big fish orange, tail and fins too. Leave its eye white. Colour the last fish pink.
Step 13: Grey rock, green seaweed
Colour the rock grey and the 3 seaweed leaves green.
Step 14: Blue water
Colour the water light blue, from the surface down to the sand, around everything. Leave the bubbles white.
Tip Go over your lines, and your underwater scene is done!
