How to Draw Cliffs
Draw cliffs in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the sea line.
Step 1: The sea line
A third of the way up, start near the left edge and draw a straight line across to the right.
Step 2: The cliff
Start on the sea line by the left edge. Go up, across a flat top, then down to the sea.
Tip Make the face steep, with 2 little ledges on the way down.
Step 3: The grassy edge
A finger below the top, start on the left side and draw a wavy line across to the face.
Step 4: Rock layers
Draw 2 wavy rock lines: start one at the top ledge, one on the left side, and stop halfway.
Step 5: A sea stack
Right of the cliff, start on the sea line, go up, across a flat top and back down to it.
Tip Keep it slim and shorter than the cliff, with sky between them.
Step 6: Waves
Draw 3 short wavy lines on the sea, well away from the rocks.
Step 7: Seagulls
Draw 3 little gulls in the sky like flat Ms: start left, 2 soft bumps, stop on the right.
Step 8: The sun
In the top right corner, draw a round sun as big as a plum, with 8 short rays.
Step 9: Yellow sun, tan cliff
Colour the sun yellow. Colour the cliff tan, from the grassy edge down to the sea line.
Step 10: Grey stack, green grass
Colour the sea stack grey and the grassy strip on top of the cliff green.
Step 11: Blue sea
Colour the sea blue, from the line down to the bottom edge. Your cliffs are done!
