How to Draw an Ultralight Plane
Draw an ultralight plane in 13 steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big wing.
Step 1: The big wing
Near the top draw one BIG flat wing right across, with rounded tips. Rule 4 short rib lines across it.
Tip An ultralight is mostly wing, with a tiny frame hanging under it.
Step 2: Post and wires
From the wing's middle draw a short post up with 2 wires to the tips. Draw a fat mast DOWN.
Step 3: The open frame
From the wing draw 2 thin struts slanting down, one each side of the mast, to a level bar underneath.
Tip No body, no walls: the pilot sits in an open frame.
Step 4: Seat and engine
On the bar draw a seat against the mast and an engine behind. Add a propeller behind the engine.
Step 5: Pilot's head and helmet
Just in front of the mast draw a round head with a dome helmet. Add 2 eyes and a smile.
Tip Leave a little gap between the helmet and the mast.
Step 6: Body and arm
Draw a body below the head. Add an arm reaching forward, with a fist gripping the front strut.
Step 7: Bent leg
From under the body draw a leg forward to a knee, then down. Add a shoe resting on the bar.
Tip The knee points forward, the same way the plane is going.
Step 8: 3 wheels
Under the bar draw a nose wheel at the front and a main wheel at the back, one peeking behind.
Step 9: Ground and grass
Rule the ground line from edge to edge, just touching the wheels. Add a few little grass tufts.
Step 10: Peach face, pink cheeks
Go over your lines. Colour the face and fist peach and the cheeks pink. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Yellow wing, red helmet
Colour the big wing yellow, leaving the rib lines showing. Colour the helmet red.
Step 12: Blue suit, black wheels
Colour the suit blue, the trousers navy, and the shoe and 3 wheels black.
Step 13: Slate frame and engine
Colour the mast, struts, bar, post, wheel legs, propeller, engine and seat slate grey.
