How to Draw a Pirate Dinghy
Draw a pirate dinghy in 15 steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: hull and rim.
Step 1: Hull and rim
Start at the back corner. Draw a sagging deck to the front point, round the fat bottom, and back.
Tip Flat back, pointed front. Add a second rim line just under the deck.
Step 2: Plank lines
Under the rim, draw 2 long plank lines along the hull, from the back to the front.
Step 3: Pirate's head
Above the middle of the boat, a hand up from the deck, draw a round head.
Step 4: Big pirate hat
On the head, draw a big wide hat with pointed ends. Add a round skull badge with 2 dots.
Tip The hat is twice as wide as the head.
Step 5: Friendly face
Under the hat, draw 2 big eyes with black dots, a U smile and 2 pink cheeks.
Step 6: Striped shirt
Start on the deck. Draw a rounded shirt up to the chin and back down. Rule 2 stripes across it.
Step 7: Arms and fists
From each shoulder, draw a short sleeve bending down beside the shirt. End each in a round fist.
Step 8: Two oars
From each fist, draw a long thin oar slanting down to the water. End each in a flat oval blade.
Step 9: Pole and flag
At the back, draw a thin pole up from the deck. Add a flag with a rounded end.
Step 10: Skull and bones
On the flag, draw a round skull with 2 dot eyes and a jaw. Cross 2 bones under it.
Step 11: Waves and sun
From the left edge, draw wave bumps across to the right, then a bigger row lower. Add a sun.
Step 12: Blue sea, yellow sun
Colour the sea blue, from the top wave down to the bottom of the paper. Colour the sun yellow.
Step 13: Wooden boat and oars
Colour the boat, both oars and the pole wood brown. Leave the rim band white.
Step 14: Red shirt, peach face
Colour the shirt and sleeves red. Colour the face and fists peach around the cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 15: Dark hat and flag
Colour the hat and flag dark grey, leaving the skulls and bones white. Your dinghy is ready to sail!
