How to Draw a Uk Map

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a uk map in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: along the bottom.

Print

  1. Step 1: Along the bottom

Start low on the left at a pointed toe. Draw a bumpy line to the right. Stop at a corner.

Tip This is the south coast of England. The long toe is Cornwall.

  2. Step 2: The round bulge

From the corner go up a little and make a dent. Then draw a round bulge. Stop in a notch.

Tip The bulge is the widest part of the map.

  3. Step 3: Up the right side

From the notch draw a bumpy line up, leaning left, with 1 sharp dent. Stop at a corner.

  4. Step 4: The top

From the corner go left into a big V dent, then up to the top. Stop at the left corner.

Tip This is the top of Scotland. It is much thinner than the bottom of the map.

  5. Step 5: Down the left side

From the top corner draw a bumpy line down the left side. Stop at a finger tip pointing down.

  6. Step 6: Notch and bump

From the finger tip go up into a notch, then down and round a bump. Stop in a deep dent.

  7. Step 7: The round side

From the dent go down, round a bump out left, then a curved bay. Stop at a little point.

    Tip This side is Wales.

  8. Step 8: Close the island

From the point go right into a deep dent, then back left. Stop at the toe where you began.

Tip Great Britain is done: tall and thin at the top, wide at the bottom.

  9. Step 9: The second island

On the left draw a smaller island, like a rounded box with bumpy edges. Leave sea between the islands.

Tip This is the island of Ireland. It sits beside the middle of the big island.

  10. Step 10: The border line

Across the top right corner of the small island draw a curved line. Start and stop on the coast.

Tip The corner is Northern Ireland, part of the United Kingdom. The rest is another country.

  11. Step 11: Blue sea

Go over your lines. Colour the sea light blue, all around both islands, out to the edges.

Tip Leave both islands white for now.

  12. Step 12: Sandy neighbour

Colour the big part of the small island a sandy colour. It is not in the United Kingdom.

  13. Step 13: Green United Kingdom

Colour the big island and the top corner of the small island green. Your map is done!
