How to Draw a Rainforest
Draw a rainforest in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: two leafy tops.
Step 1: Two leafy tops
Near the top draw 2 big bumpy clouds of leaves side by side. Tuck the right one behind the left.
Step 2: Two thick trunks
Draw a ground line. From under each cloud draw a thick trunk down to it, spreading into roots.
Tip Rainforest trees are giants: tall trunks with wide roots.
Step 3: A thick branch
Start on the left trunk. Draw a thick branch out to the right with a round end, and back.
Step 4: Toucan body
Sitting on the branch, draw a tall egg body. Add a long tail hanging down behind the branch.
Step 5: Huge beak
From the front of the head draw a huge banana beak pointing right. Add a line near the tip.
Tip The beak is nearly as long as the body!
Step 6: Eye and bib
Behind the beak draw a big eye with a black dot. Draw a curve from the beak to the chest.
Step 7: Gripping toes
Under the tummy draw 2 fat toes curling over the front of the branch.
Step 8: Big leaves
Between the trunks, on the ground, draw 3 big pointed leaves fanning out. Add a vein in each.
Step 9: Hanging vines
Outside each trunk, start under the cloud and draw a wiggly vine hanging down, ending in a little curl.
Step 10: Raindrops
Draw 3 little raindrops in the air, pointy on top and round at the bottom. It is a RAIN forest.
Step 11: Yellow and orange
Colour the bib yellow and the beak orange, up to the tip line.
Step 12: Blue and green
Colour the raindrops blue. Colour the leafy tops and the big leaves green.
Step 13: Brown wood
Colour the trunks and the branch brown.
Step 14: Black toucan
Colour the toucan, its toes and the beak tip black, around the yellow bib. Leave the eye white.
