How to Draw a Mangrove
Draw a mangrove in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the leafy top.
Step 1: The leafy top
Above the middle, draw a big cloud of leaves with 8 round bumps all round, wider than tall.
Step 2: A short trunk
Start under the leaves. Draw 2 short trunk lines down, flaring out, and stop just below halfway.
Step 3: Roots on the left
From the left trunk foot, draw 2 roots arching down to flat feet. Stop under the middle.
Tip Make each root thinner at the bottom. Mangrove trees stand up on stilt roots, like a tree on tiptoe.
Step 4: Roots on the right
From under the middle, draw 2 roots down to the right the same way. Stop at the right trunk foot.
Step 5: The water
Draw a wavy water line from side to side, through the root feet. Add 3 little wave lines below.
Step 6: A little fish
Under the water on the right, draw a little fish: a pointed egg, a triangle tail and a dot eye.
Step 7: Sun and birds
Top right, draw a small sun with 8 short rays. On the left, draw 2 little birds like flat Ms.
Step 8: Yellow sun, orange fish
Colour the sun yellow and the little fish orange.
Step 9: Blue water
Colour the water sky blue from the wavy line down, going around the fish.
Step 10: Green leaves
Colour the leafy top green.
Step 11: Brown trunk and roots
Colour the trunk and all 4 roots wood brown. Go over your lines and your mangrove is done!
