How to Draw a Storm Cloud
Draw a storm cloud in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the cloud top.
Step 1: The cloud top
Start on the left, middle of your paper. Draw a rainbow of 5 big bumps over to the right.
Step 2: The cloud bottom
Start at the right end. Draw 3 shallow bumps across to the left until you meet the start.
Step 3: Two big eyes
Below the middle of the cloud draw 2 big eggy eyes. Colour a black dot in each, leaving a speck.
Step 4: A smile
Under the eyes draw a small U smile, starting below one eye and stopping below the other.
Step 5: A lightning bolt
From the bottom of the cloud draw a zigzag lightning bolt down to a point, back up to the cloud.
Step 6: Slanting rain
On each side of the bolt draw 2 slanting rain lines falling from the cloud, and 2 more lower down.
Step 7: A puddle
Near the bottom of the paper draw a long flat oval puddle, nearly as wide as the cloud.
Step 8: Ripples
Inside the puddle draw 2 short curved ripple lines, one near each end, not touching the edge.
Step 9: Yellow bolt
Colour the lightning bolt bright yellow.
Step 10: Blue puddle
Colour the puddle water blue.
Step 11: Slate cloud
Colour the cloud slate grey, going around the eyes. Leave the eyes white. Go over your lines!
