How to Draw an Ugly Sweater

Draw an ugly sweater in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the neck hole.

Step 1: The neck hole
Near the top draw a rainbow 3 fingers wide. From its left end draw a U to its right end.
Step 2: Wide sleeves
From each end of the rainbow, slope over a shoulder, down a long sleeve, and back up to the armpit.
Tip Make each sleeve end flat and slanted, like the end of a sausage roll.
Step 3: The body
From each armpit draw a long side straight down to a round corner. Join the corners with a gentle curve.
Step 4: Knit bands
From one shoulder draw a bigger U round to the other. Add a line across each cuff and the hem.
Step 5: Knit ribs
Draw 3 short lines across the neck band, 1 on each cuff and 5 on the bottom band.
Tip Ribs are the stretchy knit lines that hug your neck, wrists and tummy.
Step 6: Reindeer head
In the middle of the chest draw an egg, wider at the top. Add a pointy ear on each side.
Step 7: The antlers
From the top of the head draw 2 curved antlers going up and out. Add 2 short prongs to each.
Step 8: Eyes and nose
Draw 2 black dot eyes with a tiny shine in each. Below them draw a big round nose.
Step 9: Two little trees
On each side of the reindeer draw a little tree: zigzag down both sides, close the bottom, add a trunk.
Step 10: Zigzag stripe
Below the trees draw a zigzag from the left side across to the right side. Draw a matching one underneath.
Tip Count 8 points on each zigzag so the two match.
Step 11: Snowflakes
On each sleeve draw a big snowflake: 3 short lines crossing in the middle, like a star.
Step 12: Cream and green
Go over your lines. Colour the neck, cuff and bottom bands cream. Colour the trees and the zigzag stripe green.
Step 13: Brown reindeer
Colour the reindeer's head, its ears and the 2 tree trunks brown. Colour its nose bright red.
Step 14: Red sweater
Colour the rest of the sweater red, around the bands, the reindeer, the trees and the stripe.
