How to Draw a Cowboy Hat
Draw a cowboy hat in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the tall crown.
Step 1: The tall crown
Start low on the left. Draw a tall hill, dipped on top. Join the ends with a sagging line.
Tip The dip on top is the crease every cowboy hat has.
Step 2: Wide curly brim
Start at the crown's bottom left. Draw a wide brim, curled up at each end, round to the bottom right.
Tip Make the brim more than twice as wide as the crown.
Step 3: 2 big eyes
On the crown draw 2 big egg eyes side by side. Colour a big black dot in each.
Tip Leave a tiny white dot in each black dot. That is the shine.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a U smile from eye to eye, and a small oval cheek at each end.
Tip Leave room under the smile for the hat band.
Step 5: A thick edge
Start on the brim's bottom edge near the left tip. Draw a second curve just inside it, to the right.
Step 6: The hat band
Under the smile, start on the left of the crown. Draw a sagging curve across and stop on the right.
Step 7: Sparkles
Draw a sparkle star high on each side of the hat, clear of the brim.
Tip A sparkle star has 4 points: up, down, left and right.
Step 8: The table
Draw a long table line under the hat, from left to right, touching the bottom of the brim.
Step 9: Yellow and pink
Go over your lines, then colour the sparkles yellow and the cheeks pink.
Step 10: Red band
Colour the hat band red, from one side of the crown to the other.
Step 11: Brown hat
Colour the crown and the brim brown, around the eyes and cheeks. Leave the eyes white. Yee-haw!
