How to Draw a Turtle Face with a Shell

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a turtle face with a shell in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

A little below the middle, draw a big soft oval head, a little wider than tall.

  2. Step 2: The shell

Behind the head, draw a big dome from low on the left, high over the head, down to the right.

  3. Step 3: Two big eyes

In the middle of the head, draw 2 big round eyes close together, each with a dot and white shine.

  4. Step 4: Smile and nostrils

Under the eyes, draw a wide smile from under the left eye to the right. Add 2 tiny nostril dots.

  5. Step 5: Shell rim

Across the bottom of the shell, draw a gentle curve from the left edge to the right edge, bowing up.

  6. Step 6: Shell pattern

On the shell, draw 5 oval patches: one at the top, one high on each side, one low each side.

  7. Step 7: Flippers

From under the shell on each side, draw a flipper like a fat leaf pointing down and out.

  8. Step 8: Eyebrows and cheeks

Above each eye, draw a short eyebrow curve. Add a little oval blush on each cheek and colour it pink.

  9. Step 9: Tan and green

Colour the rim and 5 patches tan. Colour the head and flippers green around the cheeks, leaving the eyes white.

  10. Step 10: Brown shell

Colour the rest of the shell brown, around the patches and above the rim.
