How to Draw a Remora
Draw a remora in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: long slim body.
Step 1: Long slim body
Draw a long slim fish body: a blunt head on the left, narrowing to a thin tail end.
Tip Make it about 4 times as long as it is tall.
Step 2: Sucker pad
On top of the head, draw a long flat hump. Start at the nose and stop on the back.
Tip A remora sticks to sharks with this pad.
Step 3: Friendly eye
Under the pad, draw a round eye. Add a big pupil with a white shine.
Step 4: Pad ridges
Draw 6 short lines across the pad, from its top down to the head.
Tip Space the lines evenly, like the sole of a shoe.
Step 5: Smiling mouth
Start at the front of the head. Draw a smile curving back, and stop before the eye.
Tip The bottom jaw pokes out past the top one.
Step 6: Forked tail
On the thin end, draw a tail fin with 2 round points and a dent between them.
Step 7: 2 long fins
Draw a long low fin on the back, tallest at the front. Draw a matching fin underneath.
Tip Keep both fins low so the fish stays slim.
Step 8: Gill and side fin
Behind the eye, draw a C gill from back to tummy. Add a small pointed side fin.
Step 9: Side stripe
Start on the gill. Draw 2 long lines along the side, and stop at the tail.
Tip The 2 lines get closer together toward the tail.
Step 10: Sand and seaweed
Draw a wavy sand line from edge to edge. Grow 2 wavy seaweed blades up from it to a point.
Step 11: Sandy floor
Colour the sand sandy, right to the paper's edges. Colour the sucker pad tan.
Step 12: Grey fish
Colour the head, back and tummy grey, around the stripe and side fin. Colour the seaweed green.
Step 13: Dark stripe and fins
Colour the side stripe, the tail and all the fins dark grey. Leave the eye white.
