How to Draw a Trumpet
Draw a trumpet in 9 easy steps, about 7 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: three valve tins.
Step 1: Three valve tins
Left of the middle draw 3 tall tins in a row, each with a round bottom and flat oval lid.
Tip The whole trumpet leans up to the right like a slide.
Step 2: The tube
Draw 2 tube lines behind the tins, sloping up right. Start a finger left of them, stop a finger right.
Tip The tube is a thumb thick. The lines hide behind each tin.
Step 3: The big bell
From the tube's right end swoop both lines out wide like a flower, ending at a tall oval rim.
Tip Add a smaller oval inside the rim. The bell is 5 tubes tall.
Step 4: The mouthpiece
On the tube's left end draw a thin ring. From it, a little cup going left, ending in a rim.
Tip The cup pinches in to a thin neck, then swells out.
Step 5: Buttons on sticks
From the middle of each lid draw a short stick up, ending in a small flat pearl, like a lollipop.
Tip Keep all 3 the same height.
Step 6: The big loop
From the tube left of the tins draw a big smooth U under all 3, back up to the tube.
Tip Add a smaller U inside it, like a smile hanging under.
Step 7: Toot! Music notes
Above the bell draw a tilted oval note with a leaning stem and curly flag. Add a smaller one.
Step 8: Shiny yellow brass
Colour the trumpet yellow like shiny brass, but not inside the bell, the mouthpiece or the pearls.
Step 9: Orange bell, grey mouthpiece
Colour inside the bell orange, the mouthpiece grey like silver, and the note heads black. Go over your lines.

Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a trumpet, drawn by you.
