How to Draw a Trefoil

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a trefoil in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: a light triangle.

Print

  1. Step 1: A light triangle

In the middle of your paper, lightly draw a triangle that points down, about as wide as your hand.

Tip Press softly. A trefoil has 3 round loops, one on each side of the triangle.

  2. Step 2: Three round loops

Start on a corner. Draw a big round loop out and stop on the next corner. Do all 3 sides.

Tip Make every loop the same size, a little wider than the side of the triangle.

  3. Step 3: Two big eyes

Rub out the triangle. In the middle draw 2 big egg eyes with black dots and shines.

Tip Leave a tiny white dot in each black dot. That is the shine.

  4. Step 4: Big smile

Leave a gap under the eyes, then draw a wide U smile from under one eye to the other.

  5. Step 5: Rosy cheeks

Under the outside of each eye, clear of the smile, draw a small sideways oval for a cheek.

  6. Step 6: Sparkles

Draw 2 sparkle stars on each side of the trefoil, one high and one low.

Tip A sparkle star has 4 points: up, down, left and right.

  7. Step 7: The floor

Under the trefoil, draw a long floor line from far left to far right, just touching the 2 bottom loops.

  8. Step 8: Pink cheeks

Colour the 2 cheeks rosy pink.

  9. Step 9: Yellow sparkles

    Colour the 4 sparkles yellow.

  10. Step 10: Green trefoil

Go over your lines and colour the trefoil green, around the pink cheeks. Leave the eyes white. You're done!
