How to Draw a New Jersey Map
Draw a new jersey map in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the slanting top.
Step 1: The slanting top
Start near the top, left of the middle. Draw a straight line slanting down to the right.
Tip Keep it short. The map is tall and thin.
Step 2: The harbour edge
Carry on from there. Draw a line down, bending to the left. Stop after a small bump.
Tip A big city harbour lies along this edge.
Step 3: The little hook
Carry on from there. Draw a short line dipping to the right, ending in a small point up.
Step 4: The long coast
Carry on from the point. Draw a long line down, curving to the left. Stop at the bottom.
Tip This is the sea coast, with miles of sandy beach.
Step 5: The bay shore
Carry on from the tip. Go up a little, then slant up to the left. Stop at the far left.
Step 6: The river bend
Carry on from there. Draw a line slanting up to the right. Stop near the middle.
Tip A river runs all the way up this side.
Step 7: Back to the left
Carry on from there. Draw a bumpy line slanting up to the left. Stop above the middle.
Step 8: Up to the tip
Carry on from there. Draw a wavy line up to the right. Join your first line.
Step 9: The capital star
Inside the map, to the right of the middle bend, draw a star for the capital city, Trenton.
Step 10: The mountain
Inside the top part of the map draw a triangle mountain.
Tip The highest hills are up in this corner.
Step 11: Green land
Go over your lines. Colour all the land green, around the star and the mountain.
Step 12: Brown and red
Colour the mountain brown and the star red. Your map of New Jersey is done!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a new jersey map, drawn by you.
