How to Draw a Treasure Map
Draw a treasure map in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the paper.
Step 1: The paper
In the middle of your paper draw a wide box for the map, a little wider than it is tall.
Step 2: Two rolls
Down each side of the map draw a tall bar poking out past the top and bottom.
Step 3: Two big eyes
A little above the middle of the map draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a big black dot in each.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a U smile from one eye to the other. Add a small cheek at each end.
Step 5: Roll ends
On each end of each roll draw a small flat oval with a tiny circle inside.
Step 6: An island
Low on the left of the map draw a lumpy potato shape for an island.
Step 7: A palm tree
Start on top of the island and draw a short curved trunk up. Stop and add 4 big drooping leaves.
Step 8: Path to the X
From the island draw a dotted path curving up and right. At the end draw a big fat X.
Step 9: A compass
In the top right corner draw a 4-pointed star. Add a small circle round its middle for a compass.
Step 10: Ground and sparkles
Draw a ground line under the map, well past both sides. Add a sparkle star on each side.
Step 11: Sand map
Go over your lines. Colour the map sand, leaving the eyes white, and the rolls and trunk tan.
Step 12: Pink and yellow
Colour the cheeks pink and the 2 sparkles yellow.
Step 13: Green and red
Colour the island and leaves green, and the X and compass star red. Your map is ready!
