How to Draw a Tray
Draw a tray in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the tray top.
Step 1: The tray top
In the middle of your paper draw a wide flat box seen from above, narrower at the back.
Tip A tray has a rim all round, so nothing slides off.
Step 2: A mug
On the left draw a small flat oval mug top. From its ends draw sides down to a curved bottom.
Step 3: Mug face
On the mug draw 2 big egg eyes with black dots, a U smile and a tiny cheek each side.
Step 4: Mug handle
On the right side of the mug draw a handle like a thick letter C.
Step 5: Rim and lip
Draw a second box just inside the top for the rim. Under the front edge add a thin strip.
Step 6: Plate and cookie
On the right draw a flat oval plate with a round cookie on it. Add 3 chip dots.
Step 7: Two handles
From the middle of each short side draw a thick flat loop sticking out, for the handles.
Step 8: Steam
Above the mug draw 2 soft S lines rising up for the steam.
Step 9: Table and shadow
Draw a table line under the lip. On it add a thin oval shadow, narrower than the tray.
Step 10: Tan rim and cookie
Go over your lines. Colour the cookie tan around its chips, then the rim, lip and handles tan.
Step 11: Wood tray floor
Colour the tray floor inside the rim wood brown, around the mug and plate. Leave the plate white.
Step 12: Red mug
Colour the cheeks pink, then the mug and its handle red around them. Leave the eyes white.
Step 13: Chips and shadow
Colour the chips brown and the shadow grey. Your tray is ready to serve!
