How to Draw a Paper Boat

11 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a paper boat in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the hull.

Print

  1. Step 1: The hull

Below the middle, draw a hull: a long line across, a short slant down each side, and a bottom line.

Tip Wider at the top than the bottom.

  2. Step 2: Two big eyes

On the hull, draw 2 big round eyes a finger apart, with a black dot and white shine in each.

  3. Step 3: Smile and cheeks

Under the eyes, draw one wide U smile from eye to eye. Add a small oval cheek beside each end.

  4. Step 4: The folded top

Start on the top line at the left. Slant up to a middle point, then back down to the line.

  5. Step 5: The fold line

From the point of the triangle, draw one straight line down to the top of the hull, a little left.

  6. Step 6: Waves

Draw wavy bumps across the paper, stopping at the boat's sides a little above its bottom. Add a lower row.

  7. Step 7: Sun and cloud

Top right, draw a round sun with 8 short rays. Top left, draw a puffy cloud with 3 bumps.

  8. Step 8: Sparkles

Draw a sparkle star on each side of the boat, like a plus sign with curved points.

  9. Step 9: Cream hull

Colour the hull cream and leave the folded top white. Keep the eyes white.

  10. Step 10: Pink cheeks, yellow sun

Colour the cheeks pink, and the sun and the sparkle stars yellow.

  11. Step 11: Sky cloud

Colour the cloud sky blue. Go over your lines and your paper boat is done!
