How to Draw a Basketball Hoop
Draw a basketball hoop in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the backboard.
Step 1: The backboard
Near the top of your paper draw a big wide box with soft corners. Make it wider than tall.
Step 2: The target box
In the middle of the board draw a box. Draw a smaller box inside it to make a frame.
Step 3: The rim
Draw a wide flat oval over the bottom edge of the board. Draw a thinner oval inside it.
Step 4: The net
Start at each end of the rim. Slant 2 lines down and in. Stop and join them with a curve.
Step 5: Strings one way
Start on the rim. Draw 4 strings slanting down to the right. Stop at the bottom of the net.
Step 6: Strings the other way
Start on the rim again. Draw 4 strings slanting down to the left, so they criss-cross. Stop at the bottom.
Step 7: Base and ground
Near the bottom draw a long ground line. Draw a low block with sloping sides sitting on its middle.
Step 8: The pole
Start at the bottom of the net. Draw 2 straight lines down for the pole and stop on the base.
Step 9: Orange rim
Colour the rim orange, between the 2 ovals. Leave the backboard and the net white.
Step 10: Red target
Colour the frame between the 2 boxes red. Leave the middle of it white.
Step 11: Grey pole, dark base
Colour the pole light grey and the base dark grey. Go over your lines. Swish!
