How to Draw a Train Track Loop
Draw a train track loop in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the track loop.
Step 1: The track loop
In the middle, draw a big flat oval, wider than tall. Draw a second oval just inside for the rails.
Step 2: The engine
On the front of the loop, draw a tall box cab with a longer low box to its right.
Step 3: The face
On the cab, draw 2 big egg eyes with shines. Add a U smile and a cheek at each end.
Step 4: Wheels and chimney
Draw 4 round wheels under the engine, touching the front rail. Add a short chimney on the long box.
Step 5: Sleepers
All round the loop, draw short lines across between the 2 rails. Skip where the engine is.
Step 6: The tunnel hill
On the back left, draw a round hill over the track, rail to rail. Add a small tunnel arch inside.
Step 7: A little tree
Inside the loop on the right, draw a little tree: a bumpy round top on a short trunk.
Tip Rub out the track lines inside the tree top.
Step 8: Table line
Draw a straight table line just under the loop, from near the left edge to near the right edge.
Step 9: Sparkles
Draw 3 four-point sparkles above the track to make it shine.
Step 10: Yellow sparkles, pink cheeks
Go over your lines. Colour the sparkles yellow and the cheeks pink.
Step 11: Sand track
Colour the track sand between the 2 rails, around the engine, hill and tree, so the sleepers show.
Step 12: Green grass, brown trunk
Colour the grass, hill and tree top green, around the engine and tunnel. Colour the trunk brown.
Step 13: Red engine, grey wheels
Colour the engine red around the eyes and cheeks. Colour the wheels, chimney and tunnel grey.
Tip Leave the eyes white.
