How to Draw the Tower of London

11 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw the Tower of London in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the square keep.

Print

  1. Step 1: The square keep

In the middle, draw a big square tower with square teeth along the top, standing on the ground.

Tip A big square box with an onion-capped turret at each corner.

  2. Step 2: Two corner turrets

At each side of the keep, draw a taller thin tower standing on the ground, overlapping the keep's edge.

  3. Step 3: Two back turrets

Draw 2 more turret tops peeking over the teeth: start on the teeth, go up, across, down to the teeth.

  4. Step 4: Onion caps

Draw an onion cap on each turret, from the left edge up to a point and down to the right.

Tip An onion cap bulges out first, then pinches in to the point.

  5. Step 5: The flag

From the left turret's point draw a pole straight up, stopping high above. Add a flag flying right.

  6. Step 6: Door and windows

Draw an arched door, a window each side of it, 3 windows higher up and 1 in each front turret.

  7. Step 7: The ground

Draw the ground line from the turrets out to each edge, with a few grass blades near each edge.

  8. Step 8: Bushes and a cloud

Draw a bumpy bush on the ground at each side, away from the turrets, and a puffy cloud top left.

  9. Step 9: Cream stone

Colour the keep and all four turrets cream, going round the door and windows.

  10. Step 10: Slate caps, red flag

Colour the 4 onion caps slate, and the flag and the door red.

  11. Step 11: Sky windows, green bushes

Colour the windows sky blue, the bushes green, the cloud white. Go over your lines and you're done!
