How to Draw Edinburgh Castle
Draw Edinburgh Castle in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the rocky hill.
Step 1: The rocky hill
Start low on the left. Draw a steep side up to a flat top, across, and down the right side.
Tip Make the sides steep, like a cliff.
Step 2: The keep
On the flat top, right of the middle, draw a wide block with square teeth along the top.
Step 3: The square tower
Against the left side of the keep draw a tall narrow tower with teeth on top, taller than the keep.
Step 4: Low walls
Draw a low wall with teeth right of the keep, and a short stub of wall left of the tower.
Step 5: The flag
Start on the tower top. Draw a flagpole straight up, stopping high above. Add a triangle flag pointing right.
Step 6: Windows and gate
Draw arched windows: 3 on the keep, 2 on the tower, 2 on the wall. Add a gate below.
Step 7: Rock cracks
On the rock draw 3 short wavy crack lines, one low on each side and one higher on the left.
Step 8: The ground
Join the 2 bottom ends of the rock with a straight ground line.
Step 9: The sun
Draw a sun high on the right with short rays all round.
Step 10: A cloud
Draw a puffy cloud high on the left: little bumps over the top and a flatter line underneath.
Step 11: Stone castle
Colour the walls, the keep and the tower stone grey, going round the windows and the gate.
Step 12: Sky windows, yellow sun
Colour the windows and gate sky blue, the sun yellow and the cloud white.
Step 13: Slate rock, red flag
Colour the rock slate grey, pressing softly so the cracks show, and the flag red. Go over your lines!
