How to Draw a Torus
Draw a torus in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: a big oval.
Step 1: A big oval
Draw a big, wide oval, like an egg lying on its side. Make both ends fat and round.
Tip A torus is the maths name for a ring doughnut shape.
Step 2: The hole
Start left of the middle. Draw a wide smile and stop on the right. Close it with a low rainbow.
Tip The hole sits a little above the middle. It looks like a lemon because you see the ring from the side.
Step 3: Two big eyes
On the ring's front, under the hole, draw 2 BIG egg eyes. Add a black dot with a shine.
Step 4: A big smile
Under the eyes draw a wide U smile from eye to eye, ends turning up.
Step 5: Rosy cheeks
Beside each end of the smile, leaving a small gap, draw a small sideways oval cheek.
Step 6: A shine
Inside the oval's top left, draw a short curve that follows the edge. Add a tiny circle past it.
Tip The shine makes the ring look round and smooth.
Step 7: Sparkles
Draw 2 sparkle stars on the left and 2 on the right, a big one above a small one.
Step 8: Shadow and floor
Draw a flat oval shadow peeking out under the ring. Add a floor line out from each side of it.
Tip The torus lies flat on the floor, like a ring on a table.
Step 9: Yellow sparkles, pink cheeks
Colour the 4 sparkles yellow and the 2 cheeks pink.
Step 10: Grey shadow and hole
Colour the shadow under the ring grey. Colour the hole grey too.
Tip Through the hole you see the floor in the ring's shadow.
Step 11: Teal torus
Colour the whole ring teal, around the hole, the eyes and the cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
