How to Draw a Rangoli
Draw a rangoli in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the round middle.
Step 1: The round middle
In the middle of your paper, draw a round circle about as big as a plum.
Step 2: Two big eyes
Across the middle of the circle, draw 2 big egg eyes, each with a black dot and a white shine.
Step 3: A big smile
Leave a little gap under the eyes. Draw a wide U smile from under one eye to the other.
Step 4: Four petals
Round the circle, draw 4 pointed petals like teardrops: top, bottom, left and right, points facing out.
Tip The round end touches the circle; the point faces out.
Step 5: Four more petals
Draw 4 more petals the same size in the gaps, so 8 petals go all the way round.
Step 6: Dots between
Just past the petal points, draw a small round dot in every gap between 2 petals: 8 dots going round.
Step 7: Four big petals
Outside the dots, draw a bigger pointed petal in line with the top, bottom, left and right petals.
Tip The big petals are a little longer and fatter than the small ones.
Step 8: Four more big petals
Draw 4 more big petals in the gaps, so 8 big petals go all the way round.
Step 9: Yellow middle, pink petals
Colour the middle yellow, going around the eyes. Colour the 8 small petals pink. Leave the eyes white.
Step 10: Orange dots
Colour the 8 dots orange.
Step 11: Purple petals
Colour the 8 big petals purple. Go over your lines and you're done!
