How to Draw a Torch

11 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a torch in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the cup.

Print

  1. Step 1: The cup

In the middle of your paper draw a cup like a bucket: a flat top, sloping sides, a narrow bottom.

  2. Step 2: The flame

Start on the rim at the left. Draw 3 teardrop tongues, the middle one tallest, stopping on the rim.

Tip Give each tongue a soft point that leans in toward the middle.

  3. Step 3: Two big eyes

On the cup draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a big black dot in each, leaving a shine.

  4. Step 4: Smile and cheeks

Under the eyes draw a wide U smile from eye to eye. Add a small oval cheek beside each end.

  5. Step 5: The handle

Start on the cup's bottom, draw a straight stick down with a round end, and stop back on the cup.

  6. Step 6: Inner flame

Inside the big flame draw a smaller flame, starting and stopping on the rim, with a point in the middle.

  7. Step 7: Handle wraps

Near the top of the handle draw 3 slanted lines close together, each from edge to edge.

  8. Step 8: Two sparkles

Beside the flame draw 2 little sparkle stars, one on each side, not touching the torch.

  9. Step 9: Yellow flame, pink cheeks

Colour the inner flame yellow and the cheeks pink.

  10. Step 10: Orange flame, grey cup

Colour the big flame orange around the yellow flame, and the cup grey around the face. Leave the eyes white.

  11. Step 11: Wood handle

Colour the handle wood brown. Go over your lines, and your torch is done!
