How to Draw Tom Yum
Draw tom yum in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the rim.
Step 1: The rim
Above the middle draw a wide oval for the top of the bowl, about a hand across.
Step 2: A shallow bowl
Start at the left end of the oval. Draw a shallow U down and round, stopping at the right end.
Tip Tom yum is a hot and sour Thai soup served on a tall stand.
Step 3: A tall stand
Start at the bowl's bottom left. Draw a stand flaring out to a wide base, stopping at the bottom right.
Step 4: The soup
Inside the rim draw a second oval a finger inside it, all the way round, for the soup.
Step 5: Two prawns
In the soup draw 2 curled prawns with fan tails and 2 stripes, big one left, small one right.
Step 6: Mushrooms
Draw 2 little mushrooms, half-round caps on short stalks: a small one left and a bigger one in the middle.
Step 7: Lime and chilli
On the right draw a lime wedge with 3 lines. Under it draw a chilli with a cap and stalk.
Step 8: Lemongrass and a leaf
Draw lemongrass from the soup past the rim, split into 2 blades. Add a leaf with a vein, bottom left.
Step 9: Steam
Above the left of the bowl draw two wiggly steam lines going up.
Step 10: The table
Draw a line under the stand from well left to well right, just touching its base.
Step 11: Tan and pink
Go over your lines, then colour the mushrooms tan and the prawns pink.
Step 12: Orange soup, red chilli
Colour the soup orange around the prawns and mushrooms, and colour the chilli red.
Step 13: Green bits, teal bowl
Colour the lime, leaf, chilli cap and lemongrass green, then the bowl, rim and stand teal.
