How to Draw a Sausage Roll
Draw a sausage roll in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the pastry.
Step 1: The pastry
Across the middle of your paper, draw a long fat log lying flat, as wide as your hand.
Tip Like a fat pillow lying down.
Step 2: The cut end
Near the right end, start on the top edge. Curve down, bowing left, and stop on the bottom edge.
Tip Now the end looks like a flat oval cut face.
Step 3: The sausage
Inside the cut face, draw a smaller oval for the sausage, leaving a pastry ring all round.
Step 4: Score lines
Draw 3 short slanted lines across the top of the pastry, spaced out, each stopping part way down.
Step 5: A shine
Near the left end, draw a short curved line just inside the top corner for a shine.
Step 6: A plate
Behind the roll, draw an oval plate a bit wider than it. Add a smaller oval inside for the rim.
Tip Lift your pencil where the plate would cross the roll.
Step 7: Steam
Above the roll, draw 2 wiggly steam lines going up.
Step 8: The table
Draw a long line under the plate, just touching its bottom.
Step 9: Cream end, sky plate
Colour the cut face cream, around the sausage. Colour the plate sky blue.
Step 10: Tan pastry
Colour the pastry tan, around the cream cut face.
Step 11: Brown sausage
Go over your lines, then colour the sausage brown.

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a sausage roll, drawn by you.
