How to Draw a Toddler

Step 1: Big head

Near the top, in the middle, draw a big egg for the head, a little narrower at the chin.

Tip A toddler's head is big: about a third of the whole height.

Step 2: Eyes and eyebrows

Draw 2 big eyes, each with a dark dot and a white shine. Add a little eyebrow over each.

Tip Eyes go a little below the middle of the head.

Step 3: Nose, smile, ears

Draw a little nose and a smile. Add a C ear on each side, starting and ending on the head.

Step 4: Tufty hair

From the left ear draw 5 soft tufts over the top, ending at the right ear. Add a hairline curve.

Step 5: Neck and T-shirt

Draw 2 neck lines under the chin. From the left one draw a T-shirt with sleeves, ending at the right.

Step 6: Dungaree bib

Draw a box bib from the shirt's bottom. Add a pocket and 2 straps up to the shoulders.

Tip Draw each strap with 2 lines so you can colour it in.

Step 7: Arms

From each sleeve draw 2 lines down for the arm, ending at the wrist. Arms get narrower at the wrist.

Step 8: Mitten hands

At the bottom of each arm draw a mitten like an egg bottom, with a little thumb bump pointing in.

Step 9: Dungaree shorts

Draw wide shorts from the shirt's left corner round to the right, with an upside-down V between the legs.

Step 10: Short legs

From each shorts leg draw 2 chubby lines down, getting narrower, and stop near the bottom of the page.

Step 11: Shoes and ground

On each leg draw a little shoe, toe pointing out. Then draw a long ground line across under the shoes.

Step 12: Pink cheeks, peach skin

Colour pink cheeks, then colour the face around them, and the ears, neck, arms, hands and legs peach.

Tip Leave the eyes white.

Step 13: Yellow shirt, blue dungarees

Colour the T-shirt yellow around the bib, then the bib, straps and shorts blue.

Step 14: Brown hair, red shoes

Colour the hair brown and the shoes red. Go over your lines and your toddler is done.
