How to Draw a Cabin in Snow

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a cabin in snow in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: pointed roof.

Print

  1. Step 1: Pointed roof

Draw a big upside-down V. Draw a second one just under it and close both ends.

Tip Keep the two slopes the same length.

  2. Step 2: Snow blanket

On top of the roof draw a thick blanket of snow, round at the peak and ends, wavy underneath.

Tip Deep snow is as thick as the roof itself.

  3. Step 3: Log ends

Under each side of the roof draw 4 circles in a stack, down to where the ground will be.

Tip Make all 8 circles the same size, each touching the next.

  4. Step 4: Snowy ground

Under both stacks draw a long, gently wavy snow line from the left edge to the right edge.

  5. Step 5: The door

Left of the middle draw a tall door with a rainbow top, standing on the snow. Dot a knob.

  6. Step 6: A big window

Right of the door draw a big square window. Draw a plus sign inside it.

  7. Step 7: Log lines

Across the wall draw 5 lines for the logs, each from side to side. Skip the door and window.

Tip Each line joins the gaps between two log ends.

  8. Step 8: Chimney and smoke

On the right slope draw a chimney with a wider cap. Add 2 smoke puffs, one small, one big.

  9. Step 9: Two pine trees

On each side draw a pine: 3 triangles stacked, each one wider, with a short trunk underneath.

Tip A pine is narrow at the top and wide at the bottom.

  10. Step 10: Snow on pines

Near the top of each triangle draw a wavy line from side to side for the snow.

Tip Two or three bumps in each line is plenty.

  11. Step 11: Snowflakes

In the sky draw 3 small circles for falling snowflakes, far apart.

  12. Step 12: White and yellow

Go over your lines. Leave all the snow and the smoke white. Colour the window yellow, like a light inside.

  13. Step 13: Wood and red

Colour the log wall and log ends wood brown, around the window. Colour the door and chimney red.

  14. Step 14: Green and brown

Colour the pines green under their snow. Colour the roof and the 2 trunks brown. All done!
