How to Draw the Lincoln Memorial
Draw the Lincoln Memorial in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: 3 wide steps.
Step 1: 3 wide steps
Low on your paper draw 3 wide flat steps stacked like a cake, each shorter than the one below.
Step 2: The beam
Well above the steps draw a long flat box for the beam, a little shorter than the top step.
Step 3: The flat top
On the beam draw another flat box, a little shorter again. No pointed roof: it has a flat top.
Tip Flat on top: that makes it the Lincoln Memorial.
Step 4: The back wall
Under the beam draw a box for the back wall, as wide as the flat top, down to the steps.
Step 5: 4 columns
From the beam down to the top step draw 4 tall thin columns: 2 at the ends, 2 inside.
Step 6: 4 more columns
Draw 2 more columns on each side between them, evenly spaced, so there are 8 in a row.
Step 7: The doorway
Below the beam, draw a line from one middle column across to the other, for the top of the doorway.
Step 8: The seated statue
In the doorway draw a round head, a square chair back behind it, an arch for shoulders and 2 legs.
Tip The square chair behind him shows he is sitting, like Lincoln in his big chair.
Step 9: Ground and sun
Start at the left edge and draw the ground line under the steps to the right edge. Add a sun.
Step 10: Cream columns
Colour all 8 columns and their caps cream.
Step 11: White statue, yellow sun
Leave the statue white. Colour the sun yellow.
Step 12: Stone steps and wall
Colour the 3 steps, the beam, the flat top and the back wall stone grey, around the columns.
Step 13: Dark doorway
Colour the doorway dark grey around the statue. Your Lincoln Memorial is done!
