How to Draw a Tiger Lily
Draw a tiger lily in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the arching stem.
Step 1: The arching stem
Start near the bottom. Draw a tall 2-line stem that bends over at the top like a hook, pointing down.
Tip The flower will hang from the hook, facing down.
Step 2: The trumpet
On the end of the hook draw a little trumpet hanging down, like a bell, wider at the bottom.
Step 3: 2 hanging petals
From under the trumpet draw a petal swinging down and out on each side. Curl each pointed tip back up.
Tip Each petal is fat in the middle and pointed at the tip, like a banana.
Step 4: 2 side petals
Above those draw a longer petal reaching out on each side, curling up to a point like a hook.
Step 5: 2 small petals
Beside the trumpet draw a small petal on each side, curling up to a point. That makes 6 petals.
Step 6: Stamens
Start under the trumpet. Draw 3 thin lines hanging down, spreading apart. Stop each one with a little oval.
Step 7: Tiger spots
Dot 2 spots on each long petal and 1 on each small petal, near the trumpet: the tiger's spots.
Step 8: A bud
Start on the stem below the bend. Draw a short stalk up and left. Stop at a long pointed bud.
Step 9: 2 leaves
Lower on the stem draw a pointed leaf sweeping left and a lower one sweeping right. Add middle lines.
Step 10: Ground and grass
Draw a ground line across the bottom. Flick 2 little grass blades up on each side of the stem.
Step 11: Orange petals
Colour all 6 petals, the trumpet and the bud orange, around the black spots.
Step 12: Green and brown
Colour the stem, stalk and leaves green and the 3 stamen tips brown. Your tiger lily is done!
