How to Draw a Tiger Jumping

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a tiger jumping in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big soft head.

Print

  1. Step 1: Big soft head

Near the top left draw a big soft head, wider than tall, with round cheeks.

Tip Leave lots of room on the right for the long body.

  2. Step 2: Round ears

On each top corner of the head draw a round ear with a curve inside.

Tip The left ear is a little smaller.

  3. Step 3: Big eyes

On the middle of the head, a little to the left, draw 2 big oval eyes with black dots.

Tip Leave a tiny white shine in each eye.

  4. Step 4: Snout and smile

Under the left eye draw a snout poking past the head. From its black nose, draw down into a w.

Tip Rub out the head line inside the snout.

  5. Step 5: Back and hind leg

Start on the head beside the eye. Draw a long sloping back, then down a leg. Stop at the toes.

Tip The leg stretches out behind, pushing off the ground.

  6. Step 6: Leg and tummy

From the toes draw back up the leg, then along the tummy. Stop near the head.

Tip The leg is fat at the top and thin above the paw.

  7. Step 7: Reaching front leg

From the tummy draw a leg reaching forward to a round paw, then back to the chin.

Tip It stretches out in front, ready to land.

  8. Step 8: Far legs

Draw 2 more legs peeking out behind: one reaching under the front leg, one beside the hind leg.

Tip Only part of each far leg shows.

  9. Step 9: Streaming tail

Start on top of the bottom. Draw a long thick tail flying up behind to a thin round tip.

  10. Step 10: Ground and toes

Draw a ground line under the hind toes. Add 2 toe lines on each big paw, 1 on each small.

  11. Step 11: Body stripes

Draw 4 black stripes hanging down from the back and 2 on the top of the hind leg.

Tip Each stripe starts on the outline and narrows to a point.

  12. Step 12: Head and tail stripes

Hang 3 short stripes from the top of the head. Draw 2 rings across the tail and a black tip.

  13. Step 13: Cream and peach

Colour the snout cream and the inside of each ear peach.

  14. Step 14: Colour it orange

Colour the tiger orange, around the stripes, rings, snout and ear middles. Leave the eyes white.
