How to Draw a Bernese Mountain Dog
Draw a Bernese mountain dog in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top of your paper draw a big soft egg for the head, with fat cheeks.
Tip Leave room underneath for the body and legs.
Step 2: Soft flop ears
Start top left on the head. Draw a soft ear hanging down to the cheek. Do the right one too.
Step 3: Two big eyes
Just above the middle of the head, draw 2 eggy eyes. Colour a big black dot in each.
Step 4: Snout and nose
Under the eyes draw a wide oval snout. Sit a rounded triangle nose on top and colour it black.
Step 5: Smile and tongue
Start at the nose. Draw a short line down to a little w smile. Hang a small U tongue below.
Step 6: The body
Start under each ear. Draw a big C down to near the bottom of the paper. Join the 2 ends.
Tip A Bernese is a big sturdy dog: make the body wide.
Step 7: Fluffy bib
Start under the chin. Draw a fluffy bib with 5 soft bumps along the bottom, back up to the chin.
Step 8: Front legs
Start under the bib. Draw 2 U legs down to round paws. Add a sock line, cuff and 2 toes.
Step 9: Back paws and tail
Draw a bun paw with 2 toes at each corner. Add a bushy curving tail with a bumpy tip line.
Step 10: Blaze and ground
Draw 2 lines down the forehead, from the head top to the snout. Draw the ground under the paws.
Step 11: White bits
Colour the blaze, snout, bib, all 4 paws and the tail tip white.
Step 12: Rust cheeks and legs
Colour the cheeks, a dot over each eye and each sock rusty brown. Colour the tongue pink.
Step 13: Dark coat
Colour the head, ears, body, upper legs and tail dark grey, around the white and rust. Leave the eyes white.
