11 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a tic tac toe in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: two lines down.

Print

  1. Step 1: Two lines down

Draw 2 long lines down your paper, side by side, with a wide gap between them.

Tip Keep the gap as wide as the space on each side.

  2. Step 2: Two lines across

Draw 2 long lines across them, the same gap apart, to make 9 boxes.

  3. Step 3: Middle X

In the middle box draw a fat X with square ends.

Tip Draw a thin X first, then go around it.

  4. Step 4: Three in a row

Draw the same fat X in the box on its left and the box on its right.

  5. Step 5: Winning line

Draw a long thin strip across all 3 Xs, poking out past the boxes at both ends.

  6. Step 6: One more X

Draw one more fat X in the bottom left box.

  7. Step 7: Three Os

Draw a big circle in each top corner box and one in the bottom middle box.

  8. Step 8: Ring holes

Draw a smaller circle inside each big circle to make 3 rings.

  9. Step 9: Yellow line

Colour the long winning strip yellow.

  10. Step 10: Red Xs

Colour all 4 Xs red, going around the yellow strip.

  11. Step 11: Blue Os

Colour the 3 rings blue and leave their holes white. Three in a row wins!
